African Women in Tech and AI: 15 entrepreneurs win grants and support for their businesses

A jury composed of experts from UNESCO and AI Movement, and representatives from the OCP Foundation, has selected 15 women entrepreneurs to receive financial grants of between 10 and 30,000 USD to help their businesses succeed. In addition to the financial support, each entrepreneur will also receive coaching on fund-raising, and tailor-made technical support.
The 15 entrepreneurs were among 80 other women who have just completed a 3-month training course designed by UNESCO and its new Category 2 Institute, Ai Movement, and funded by the Morocco’s OCP Foundation. The training consisted of a three-month long online training, followed by an intensive 2-week Summer Camp held in July 2024 at the Ai Movement Artificial Intelligence Centre in Rabat. The women were selected from 28 African countries across the five regions of Africa.

A detail oriented professional with a focus on outcomes, he is enthusiastic about applying his financial acumen to encourage innovation and sustainable growth across rapidly changing industries. Stephen is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) and an esteemed member of the Institute of 5 Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG). Additionally, he earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). Holding an Executive MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Ghana, and a Project Management certification from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), she combines academic excellence with practical insight to drive transformative outcomes across diverse business landscapes. Currently serving as the General Manager of Technology Advantage Group Ltd., her strategic foresight and execution capabilities have significantly shaped the growth trajectories of TAG. Passionate about innovation and resilience, her enthusiasm lies in fostering the growth of startups through effective operational practices and the right technological solutions that guarantee resilience and a competitive advantage

Ernest Brown

Chief Executive Officer

With over two decades of experience in ICT, especially in software and systems business, Mr.Ernest Brown is not only a founding member but also serves as a director at 3S Technologies; his impressive career includes previous roles as Country Manager for NCS Equatorial Guinea and Executive Director at Zipnet. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Technology Advantage Group. He is an alumnus of the University of Ghana and possesses an Executive Masters in Distributed Systems conferred by the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) based in Trieste, Italy. In his professional journey, Mr. Brown served as the President of GISPA (Ghana Internet Service Providers Association) and participated on numerous governing boards, including those of GIFEC (Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication) and NITA (National Information Technology Agency), all agencies under the ministry of communications. Mr. Brown is fervently dedicated to advancing Ghana’s ICT sector through the implementation of innovative and transformative solutions designed to enhance users’ lives and create job opportunities for young IT engineers.
